Michael Chu: Visual Animator

Michael began his professional career at Razorfish New York. His background was originally in graphic design but has since been working in visual design across a variety of disciplines that include the web, video, interactive television, real-time 3D, and media art. His endeavors have taken him throughout the United States as well Hong Kong and Japan. Michael is currently pursuing spatially-based projects in Tokyo, Japan. Recent works include websites for Nissan, MSN and HSBC, fa├žade video designs for the Chanel Building in Ginza, Japan as well as interactive/reactive media based elements for the newly completed Gucci Flagship store in Ginza, Japan. Prior to coming to Tokyo, he graduated from the Design | Media Art program at the University of California Los Angeles where his work dealt with issues of real-time 3D and Eastern-Western techniques in perspective. His recent projects have received honors at the Clio Awards as well as the Japan Media Arts Festival. His other works have also been shown in gallery and festival settings in the US and Japan and have appeared in various design publications in Asia. Michael received a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois and holds an MFA in Design Media Art from the University of California Los Angeles.
